As the Building Services Engineer, WOBS contributed to a project that exemplifies innovation, sustainability, and future-ready academic infrastructure. The building incorporates a holistic sustainability strategy, including:

  • Carbon reduction through photovoltaic systems, eco-friendly refrigerants, district cooling, and EV charging facilities
  • Resource conservation via water recovery systems and tree preservation measures
  • High energy efficiency through radiant cooling, advanced ventilation systems, and variable speed drives (VSDs)
  • Long-term resilience with comprehensive waste management and user-focused design solutions

Overcoming significant site challenges, including a 19-metre topographical difference and the installation of heavy laboratory equipment, the project demonstrates excellence in engineering design and integrated building services.

Congratulations to all project partners for this outstanding achievement and for setting a benchmark on sustainable research and education facilities.
